FAIR CHANCE ACCESS
TO HOUSING ORDINANCE
We abide by Federal, State, and Local laws in regards to Criminal
Background checks for housing eligibility. Certain Federal
and State programs require review for certain criminal history such
as Dangerous Sex Offenders for Admission to Public Housing (42
U.S.C. Sec. 13663(a)) and Ineligibility of Individuals Convicted
for Manufacturing Methamphetamine on Premises of Federally Assisted
Housing for Admission to Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher
Programs (24 C.F.R. Sec. 982.553). If you are an applicant, you
will be advised in advance of the criminal history sought, a
request for written consent to check that criminal history, and, if
you object, an opportunity to withdraw the rental
application. Additionally, while the criminal background may
be obtained at the same as the rental and credit check, criminal
history, if any, will not be reviewed or utilized in the
application process until it is first determined whether the
applicant satisfies eligibility criteria other than criminal
background and a conditional rental agreement is provided accepting
the application pending review of criminal background.
